25 - 03 - 2020 JA Hosts Webinars Focusing on Challenges in the Coronavirus Era
Jewelers of America (JA) is addressing the coronavirus head-on for its members. The fine jewelry trade organization will release a series of webinars focused on overcoming the business challenges surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The series will cover a range of topics over several weeks that address concerns that have been raised by members across the country, according to a prepared statement from JA. The first coronavirus-related webinar was held Friday and featured a discussion between National Jeweler editor-in-chief Michelle Graff and Jewelers Security Alliance president John Kennedy that focused on protecting your store during the coronavirus outbreak (it’s a pressing topic—JCK news editor Rob Bates discussed it with Kennedy for a story published Thursday). There are two webinars happening Tuesday: A 12 p.m. EDT session, “Coronavirus Outbreak: A Framework for Tackling Legal Issues,” will feature guest Tiffany Stevens, CEO and president of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee, who will break down the different legal issues businesses need to address during the coronavirus outbreak (and the order you should address them in). Attendees will get information and tips on employment, insurance (including UCC), retail leasing, relief, scams, cybersecurity, and global supply chain issues. The second webinar, at 2 p.m., will tackle 10 Tactical Ways to Grow Your Business During COVID-19, with guest Emmanuel Raheb, CEO of Smart Age Solutions. Wednesday’s topic will be Coronavirus Outbreak: Employment Law and Business Issues, with guests David Kaufman, director of global strategies, and Hillary Baca, employment law attorney, at Nixon Peabody LLP. Thursday’s Use Social Platforms to Bond with Customers During Tough Times, will feature Andrè Savoie, CEO of High Level Thinkers. All webinars are free for JA members and the general public; register to attend virtually and watch here. JA president and CEO David J. Bonaparte said in the same statement, “The new additions to our webinar series will be critical for retail jewelers as they navigate the challenges presented by the coronavirus and its global impact.” Webinars, online classes and consultations, virtual conferencing, chat sessions, and other digital tools have, almost overnight, become vital connectors for businesses, as the country moves into a state of mass quarantine. In another article JCK published Friday, we discussed five good digital ways to keep in touch with your employees. You can access that story here. (Photo: Pexels) Source: JCK 23-3-2020
